Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is TEMPA?

The UK's only sauna bus: a wood-fired sauna and cold plunge on the shore of Bray Lake, between Maidenhead and Windsor. Open Saturdays and Sundays, 8:30am to 4pm.

How long are sessions and what do they cost?

30, 60 or 90 minutes, from £10, with the sauna and cold plunge included. See all prices.

Do I need to book?

Yes, always. Every session is booked online in advance, and sessions are capped at 8 people.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, two towels (one to sit on), a water bottle and sliders. Leave valuables at home or in the car; phones stay out of the sauna.

I've never done this. What happens?

Sit in the heat for up to 15 minutes, cool off in the cold plunge, and repeat. Go slowly: start with short rounds, let your body warm up naturally after the cold, and take a break whenever you need one.

Can I swim in the lake?

You can take a dip in the lake from 8:30am to 10am as part of your booking. Longer lake swims are run separately by Bray Lake Watersports. It's a working watersports centre, so please keep an eye out for other lake users.

Is there an age limit?

Sessions are for over-16s, and under-18s need to come with an adult.

Who should check with a GP first?

If you're pregnant, have a heart or circulation condition, take medication, or aren't sure about heat, please check with your GP before booking.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Open sessions: non-refundable, but you can reschedule once if you ask more than 48 hours before.

Private hire: full refund (minus a 2.5% bank fee) if you cancel more than 48 hours before; after that it's non-refundable.

Group bookings: refund (minus 2.5%) if you cancel more than 14 days before; after that it's non-refundable, though we may be able to reschedule.
